Mission Statement
The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department proudly serves
the Township of Penn located in Southern Butler County Pennsylvania,
approximately 20 miles North of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The mission of the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department
shall be the protection and preservation of life, property,
and environment through safety education, fire prevention,
fire suppression, and vehicle extrication. It is the desire
of the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department to provide
a top quality Fire/Rescue service to the residents of Penn
Township through quality training, experience, and cutting
edge technology.

History
The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department was formed in 1946
as an all volunteer fire department providing fire protection
to the residents of Penn Township, a rural community, located
in Southern Butler County Pennsylvania.
Today, the Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department provides
specialized Fire/Rescue service to the approximately 6000 residents
of Penn Township. The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department
serves a first due area of approximately 25 square miles, and
provides mutual aid assistance to Jefferson Township, Middlesex
Township, Forward Township, Butler Township, and the City of
Butler within Butler County. The Penn Township Volunteer Fire
Department also provides Fire/Rescue services to the Butler
County Airport located in Penn Township, The CSX Railroad, Bessemer
and Lake Erie Railroad which run through the Township, and a
major highway route connecting the City of Butler with Pittsburgh.
The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department operates out of
one station, and currently has in service a 2001 Perterbuilt/4
Guys 3000 gallon Tanker (Tanker 11), 1986 Ford/4 Guys 1250
gallon Tanker (Tanker 11-2), 1997 Spartan/Saulsbury Heavy Rescue
(Rescue 11), 1992 International/Boardman Engine (Engine 11),
2004 Chevrolet Suburban (Squad 11), 1983 GMC 1 ton brush truck
(Brush 11), and a high expansion foam generator.
The Penn Township Volunteer Fire Department provides fire suppression,
vehicle extrication, hazmat, search and rescue, and fire prevention
services 24 hours a day on an all volunteer basis and currently
operates with 20 active members.
